
Medit’s June 30, 2026 software update does not introduce a new flagship feature. Instead, it refines Realtime Intelligence, denture scanning, SmartX alignment, export behavior, and scan stability. That makes v3.4.12 more interesting than a typical minor release: it shows where Medit is trying to turn a promising AI-assisted workflow into a more dependable daily tool.
Medit’s most important 2026 software story probably was not the release itself.
It was the update that came after the release.
On June 30, 2026, Medit published the official notes for Medit Link v3.4.12, alongside Medit Scan for Clinics v1.14.2 and Medit Scan for Labs v1.8.12. The company described it as a minor update with workflow refinements, stability improvements, and bug fixes.
That sounds routine. It is not entirely routine.
The reason is context.
Earlier in v3.4.11, published on June 9, 2026, Medit introduced some of the more ambitious pieces of its current software direction:
- paid-plan management inside Medit Link;
- a more formal rollout of Realtime Intelligence;
- and multiple stability and scan-quality improvements around the clinical workflow.
By the time v3.4.12 arrived just three weeks later, the interesting question was no longer “What did Medit launch?”
It was “What did Medit feel needed immediate refinement?”
What Medit officially changed in v3.4.12
According to Medit’s official release notes, Medit Link v3.4.12 includes:

- improved data-alignment stability in the Medit SmartX workflow by optimizing the alignment algorithm.
Bug fix highlighted by Medit
- fixed an issue that could cause the program to malfunction when using Scan Assist on reflective materials or edentulous cases.
That list tells us a lot.
This is not a cosmetic cleanup release. It is a workflow-correction release centered on how users interact with Medit’s new intelligence layer and how the software behaves in clinically difficult situations.
Why this update matters more than the version number suggests
Software releases often look smaller precisely when the vendor is doing more meaningful work.
That appears to be the case here.
Version 3.4.11 was where Medit made bigger claims. It introduced Realtime Intelligence as a feature that automatically identifies prepared teeth, evaluates scan data against key requirements, and gives real-time feedback on preparation, clearance, occlusion, and overall scan quality.
That is a major positioning move.
It means Medit is not only selling scanners as capture devices. It is trying to sell them as active clinical assistants.
Once a company makes that claim, the burden changes.
The software no longer just has to scan quickly. It has to:
- guide attention intelligently;
- reduce confusion instead of adding it;
- perform reliably across edge cases;
- and help clinicians trust what the software is emphasizing.
That is why v3.4.12 matters.
It reads like a release focused on the question: how do we make the assistance layer more useful in real sessions?
Realtime Intelligence is getting more specific, not just more visible
The most revealing part of the release is the Realtime Intelligence section.
Medit says it improved review guidance so users focus on:

Medit is also refining automatic insertion-axis detection and undercut visualization for inlay cases.
That is notable because it shows the company is moving from general “AI helps quality” language toward narrower task-specific improvements inside restorative workflows. Inlays are not the most dramatic use case in marketing language, but they are exactly the kind of real restorative task where guidance quality becomes tangible.
If the undercut visualization is better and the insertion axis is more reliably inferred, that could reduce small judgment errors before the case ever reaches design.
HD images and matching angles point to a chairside communication play
Medit also says v1.14.2:
- increases the number of automatically captured HD images;
- and lets scan data be viewed from the same angle as the selected image.

Medit fixed an issue that could cause the program to malfunction when Scan Assist was used to scan:
- reflective materials;
- or edentulous cases.
Those are not trivial scenarios.
Reflective surfaces and edentulous arches are two of the classic stress points in intraoral scanning. They are precisely the cases where clinicians most want assistance to be dependable.
If the assistance layer itself becomes unstable in those situations, it can damage confidence more than a missing feature ever would.
So while Medit labels this as a bug fix, it is strategically important. It protects the credibility of assisted scanning in the workflows where reliability is hardest to win.
The export change is small—but useful
The Medit Link change around combined mesh export may be the least glamorous item in the release, but it is the kind of adjustment experienced users often appreciate immediately.
Previously, combined mesh files were included by default when exporting in v3.4.11. In v3.4.12, Medit says they are generated only when the Combine Individual Mesh option is explicitly selected.
That implies Medit may have heard some friction around unnecessary export behavior, extra files, or mismatches between user intent and export output.

Those are better buying questions than “Does it have AI?”

The bottom line
Medit Link v3.4.12 is not a spectacle release.
That is exactly why it matters.
Officially, the update:
- refines Realtime Intelligence review guidance;
